I have been reading with interest the posts about access to the insolvency register. I know that Paul from Reviva posts on here frequently and both my wife and myself were surprised to recieve a letter each yesterday from Reviva about our IVA.

Our address has obviously been taken from the register and find it a tad cheeky as we have only made two payments. The leaflet is not offensive, however, it is still correspondence that has been produced to gain business from people going through the IVA process.

I would like to know why we are being approached so soon down the line and what the thoughts are from IP's on this.

I appreciate this could be legitimate procedure, but if the mail is opened mistakenly it kind of gives the game away!!

Can't believe I have just typed out the full letter only to have lost my internet connection after 15 mins of typing[:(], basically the letter is offering advice to anyone struggling in an IVA. It is signed off by Tim Stott of Reviva UK.

Hi Bot click on iva tv and down the left hand side is a list of everything including the interview with paul. I have met Paul a really nice guy and very open to the best solution. He gives great assistance to those having problems with any debt related probs.

Thanks Ang, will have a look at it. I have no doubt that Paul is a genuine bloke, some of his posts have been very informative. Just a bit unhappy about being sent literature that has been sourced from the register.

I know what you mean. I havent received anything from Paul but get regular, from hampton trust and the obvious iva council, and debt doctor. I wish they couldnt do it and wish they at least had to give good reason to use the register. My main annoyance was with the iva council at how misleading their letter is and how it could ruin someones iva who is managing and have no problems, making them think they can redeem money which I think is highly unlikely and could actually cost them more if they are a fair way through their iva.

Just watched the interview, it's very informative, Paul does however (as Andy has pointed out) state that they do not use the register anymore. We haven't recieved any from the others you mentioned....yet!!!

Yes I watched the interview this morning and saw that. Hopefully you wont get any from the others especially the latter.

I think it's like everything ... people who are in business are going to look to all available means to target those who might be potential customers to them ... that's only natural.

I think the issue here is not so much about who uses the information available to all in the insolvency register, but more so whether the insolvency register should be so readily available to all ... hence Andy's petition.

Hi there

let me have a look at this next week and I can get back to you about where the information came from.

I do know that we do write to various people about our services as both a marketing activity and an outreach to people who may have a financial challenge.

i will come back to you when I understand more about your letter

take care

Will be interested to hear what you find out Paul, as the letter is headed, "Is your IVA working out for you?"

I personally hate this type of marketing, and have made my views known to Paul and others in this industry. The sooner that the insolvency register is only accessible to those with a need to know the better in my opinion.

I feel thatcompanies that re-mortgage people out IVAs and Trust Deeds should have full access to the information - but I feel that their marketing letters should be strictly regulated.
