Well fingers crossed this is our last year. Got to get mortgage redemption & house valued in March. If the house is still in negative equity our last payment will be Dec 1st 2015. It has been a long hard slog. Through bad advice & not getting the right help we ended up swamped in debt. It took a lot to swallow our pride & seek an iva, it has not been an easy time, but we can actually start looking to the future.

Well Done Mouse. Starting on the road to recovery isn't easy, but, once on it, things get easier (generally and compared to the debt juggling).

Keep your eye on the finishing line :-)

Thanks Foggy. We have managed our money whilst in the iva, so when completed we are taking the iva money out & putting it in another bank so we won't need to get in debt again. I really think money & finances should be on every school's curriculum, kids these days really think money grows on trees.

Well done mouse, you are on the last leg of your journey, we were lucky and able to finish our IVA after 2 years, but as soon as F&F money cleared we set up the equivalent of our IVA payment to go to a savings account and this year had our first holiday for 2 years and it felt great coming back and knowing there was no credit card bill to face the following month I am sure the next 11 months will fly by and this time next year hopefully you will be posting that you have received you completion certificate.

I'll soon be on the last year as well. Just get the 4 year review done in April/May and then it will be the last hurdle to the finishing line. Keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth journey although I'm concerned about my property value, it's touch and go as to whether I'll be within the 85% ltv or not. Things are tough at the moment but I'm still glad that I chose the IVA route and hopefully I'll still feel the same when it gets to the end. One more Christmas in an IVA and I'll be free of wretched debt (hopefully) x

You've come a long way Country Girl and done so well considering all the hassle you had with your extra year etc. I can't wait for it all to be over! I must admit to looking back at all the people who started out at roughly the same time as me and many of them appear to have ended their arrangements early some for good reasons and others not so good but I can't helping feeling envious of them. I've no complaints about my IVA company, so far, but the real test will be when it comes to the house valuation etc. My case worker is lovely although she sticks to the rules 100% and the cashiers are hilarious - they always apologise when they take my uplift and show a great deal of sympathy which makes me giggle. This month has been the hardest so far and I've never seen the freezer so empty and I had to cancel the car and boiler service until after pay day but on the plus side I've not got any credit card bills from Xmas sitting on the doormat. This is a hard lesson but one which I won't forget in a hurry. OTBC xx

Thanks footiemad just counted the days its 36! I hope you don't have the hassle that I did. I know what you mean about just after Christmas but at least it will soon be payday! I certainly don't miss how I used to shuffle money about with my credit cards! OTBC, interesting times. xx

Footiemad our equity was touch and go but my husband really played on it being a fast sale due to looking at re locating to be near elderly relatives. When they rung later that we week we just said that they had decided to move near here instead. Good luck. I can remember the days leading up to it all filled with dread at the thought of a further 12 months. Country girl. we must finish around the same time. Our final payment leaves the bank on 28th feb.
