i feel really bad as we often have money left over...we seem to have very generous allownaces...eg 60.00 per month on clothes and to be honest we never buy clothes each month..plus we have 10.00 house and 30.00 contingency...so in reality we have 100.00 each month...we do try and keep it ...but to date ...24 mnth we havent had a major expenditure...no doubt i will regret saying that
i do feel somehow or other we got an excellent deal with our IVA as we also have no 4th year clause either....

please dont hate me ///LOL

Well,if you'd have asked that question last month it would've been a definate no! As we had loads of birthdays and road tax due etc.But this month with no extra expenses i can quite happily say yes,i may just have a little bit left by the end of the month. However, with xmas on the way i know for a fact that for the next 2 months any spare cash will be well & truly spoken for!!

We did last month, but this month has been a bit tight - I am certainly counting the days until a week on Friday!

This month is tight for us as had the expense of flowers for my dads funeral ( not that i begrudge a penny of the money spent) and extra travel expenses. most months I manage to have a few £s spare. I find the novelty of having a bank account in credit still amazing.

Hi there

It can be a challenge managing your money in an iva and some months I am broke at the end of it, other months I manage fine.

When I compare my life now to before my iva, I find no comparison and am much happier now. If I am a bit skint now at the end of the month, so what!! I know I do not have all the credit card statements and loan payments due every month which is a liberating feeling. Also its great looking at your bank account and not seeing O/D before the numbers!!!

I have been happy in my iva now for nearly a year, that time has flown by to be honest and I have never been happier or felt more secure.

Good luck
Emma

What an inspiring post Emma. Forum posters contemplating whether an IVA is a good idea or not will be encouraged by the effect this agreement has had on your life.

louise, have you tried claiming from your contents insurance for your glasses?

Hubby dropped his on the floor at home a few years ago, and we put in a claim and they paid up! It was the optician who advised us to do it.

Emma - it's wonderful to have money left at the end of the month rather than it being the other way round!

Some months can be quite tough , but other months are comfortable
but i guess that is all part of the IVA and learning to Budget process.
i would rather that than a load of creditors on my back hence the IVA.
It is always a good feeling when you have had the tough month out of the way and you are getting nearer and nearer to 60 months and Debt Freedom.[:)][:)][:)]
