Well, my six years ended mid March and I'm still trying to clear up my credit file.
I obtained all 3 agencies files on me at the beginning of last year and wrote to all the relevant creditors who had got the default and completion dates wrong.
The vast majority have been corrected but a few still remain wrong.
What is unbelievable is that when contacted they have told me they have all the relevant documentation but "don't understand" why the records have not been updated.
The worst of these is Barclaycard who have now had 3 sets of copies of the documents but the default date is still shown 4 months later than it should.
Can't wait for next month to see how many actually drop of the reports.
Oh well, onwards and upwards.

If you are having problems getting the creditors to update your files you need to write to the Information Commissioner as they can force the creditors to comply.

Hi Tonyranks
This is something that comes up regularly.
This maybe helpful?
Dear Sirs
Re: Account Number xxxxxxxxxxx
After consultation with both the Information Commissioner and the Credit Reference Agencies, I am writing directly to you to request that you formally update my credit files in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
My IVA was completed on <Date on your completion certificate >, and <name of creditor> was included within my IVA. For your convenience I have attached a copy of my completion certificate.
Currently the information that you have recorded against my name with the Credit Reference Agencies is factually incorrect, and despite several written requests to your customer services , as yet your company has failed to correct the entries as required.
• It is requested that if you intend to default the account, the default entry must be no later than <Date your IVA was approved>, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
• It is requested that you mark the account in some way as to indicate that it is settled or satisfied, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
The Information Commissioner has indicated that I should allow you 28 calendar days from the date you receive this letter to comply, during this time you are requested either to update the Credit Reference Files correctly (of all three Credit Reference Agencies) or notify me in writing the reasons that you refuse to.
After the 28 days have elapsed the Information Commissioner has requested that I inform them if your company fails to update the records so that they may take any necessary enforcement action against your company.
I have copied the relevant information provided by the Information Commissioner as an attachment to this request.
Yours faithfully
AN OTHER

If you want to do this, you will have to write to the following address -
The Information Commissioner’s Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane
Wilmslow
Cheshire
SK9 5AF
Telephone no. 01625 545700
Fax no. 01625 524510
E-mail –
mail@ico.gsi.gov.uk
When you write, you must give the following details -
• your full name and address
• our name and address
• details of the information you think is wrong, including -
why you think it is wrong,
why you think you are likely to suffer because it is wrong, and an indication of when you sent us your note of
correction.
It would be helpful to the Commissioner if you could include a copy of your note of correction.
Before deciding what to do, the Commissioner may ask us for our side of the story and send us a copy of your letter. In return, you will
be sent any comments we make.
The Commissioner can make any order they think fit when they have considered your appeal. For example, they can order us to accept
your note of correction and add it to our file.
If at any stage we fail to correct or remove wrong information, you can ask the Information Commissioner to check whether we are
meeting the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
THOUGHT I WOULD JUST ADD THIS
