Hi all, thought i would update you on our progress to date, my wifes iva is going well { 7 down, 53 to go, } we now budget superbly well each month and now realise you can live nice and happily without plastic, the I&E we agreed with mel and her team is spot on and has enabled us to get our lives back on track. My bankruptcy is now sorted in the respect that all creditors now know about it and all phone calls and letters etc have now ceased, happy days,I should be discharged in April 2011, after the problems there was trying to get my iva approved and me having to go BR it has all now worked out very well. Hope all you lovely posters who offered us advise and support are all well and anyone thinking of an IVA then try Mel and her team because they are brilliant.[:D]

You made a fine choice in which company you went with. Sometimes BR is the right thing and as much as you may have preferred to avoid in and do your own IVA,at least you are getting sorted out financially.

I am so glad things are going well for you and I wish you all the best for the remaining term of your wife's IVA.

A very positive post that shows there is a solution for everyone albeit maybe not an IVA x

Hi Sinking Fast, I found the OR interview not to be as scary as i thought it would be, being self employed i had to have a face to face meeting which lasted a couple of hours, if youre not self employed then in most cases the interview is done by phone, they basically want to know of any assets you have and how and when you got into debt, they dont want to know how you,ve spent every penny just a general idea, eg using credit cards to pay bills etc. It really was,nt a scary at all.

It is great to hear from you again - I often wonder what happens to my clients who don't get to the IVA stage - of course we are still dealing with your wife.

This post will serve to help anyone who finds themselves on the wrong side of an IVA due to complete stupidity on the part of creditors. Their loss is absolutely your gain!

THanks all for your lovely thoughts, nice to hear from you all again, yeah life is going good now and we are very positive for the future, it has taught us to spend carefully and as long as we do that everything works out perfectly, it really is a good learning curve on how to watch what you spend and how to budget for things, not easy the first couple of months but once its sussed it works well, as long as your I&E is right to start with as ours is because it was done with Mel and her team and they dont get things wrong in my experience, we had problems with my iva proposal as you know but that was no fault of Mels team just a creditor being stupid, even so they continued to give me advise and help find a solution for me, so no matter how bad things seem at times there is always a solution.

Hi all, just to update you, well i had a letter from O/R a couple of days regarding early discharge which i didnt even realise was an option within the first year, so filled it in and returned it and if all goes well i might be discharged in a couple of months or so which will be brilliant, after all the problems we had things just seem to be getting better and better at the moment, so as said earlier no matter what the situation is there will be a solution, its not easy but be strong and it will happen.
