At the moment I am staying with my parents. After being away for 14 years it can be a bit of a strain. If I get my IVA, rather when I get my IVA. I will want to rent. However, after looking at some property websites I noticed that some (or most?) do credit checks, is that true? An do private landlords have the same access to credit checking facilities?

Hi
It's best to be upfront with the letting agencies,at worst you will have to pay a larger deposit [6 months] and/or find a guarantor.
You can bypass all of the credit checks by renting from private ads in the local papers.
If you are thinking of renting soon then I would advise renting prior to your IVA,this will give you a better chance of getting through the credit checks and more importantly you will not have to ask for your IVA payments to be reduced due to affordability issues.
