Hi shane and welcome to the forum

A lot of forum posters are with the Co-op Cashminder Account which I believe will allow direct debit payments. This might be worth looking into, but only if you have no debt with the Co-op.

I can vouch for co-op cashminder, visa electron card, D/Debit's, phone and internet banking, good customer service & you can make deposits in post offices. Good account providing they are not a creditor

Hi shane

make sure that you are asking for a basic bank account - you will still get a visa electron or solo debit card and be able to have direct debits.
It maybe that you are applying for standard current accounts and thats why you are getting rejected
Good luck

I would also recommend the COOP. You can use direct debits / standing orders and have a full Visa Electron Card.

You can call them direct on 08457 212 212, press the hash key and simply ask them to help you open a Cashminder account.

Regards.

The Co-Op are great. I actually went in to the local branch to see them and the young guy in there was really nice and very helpful. I also asked about the chance of moving my mortgage to them at some point but he said it wouldn't be possible at that point.

The paperwork is really easy and, as long as you don't owe them money too, they will arrange for the transfer of all your DD's etc on your behalf.

Good luck. [:o)]

Hi
I opened a basic current account with Abbey. I got a visa debit card with that and they will transfer all your direct debits too if you want them to. Don't need any money either to actually open account!!! Only problem is they keep ringing me re my mortgage telling me they could save me £180/month iof I switched to them - am I allowed to do this is IVA, and would any savings then have to go to creditors? I've not told Abbey I'm in IVA by the way!!
