They rejected it :-( They said as my offer wouldmake it that i was paying £0.22 to the pound rather than £0.29 although I then had a mad idea and asked my mum for £5000 plus payments till may £6000 in total Payplan said they would put it to Tesco who had rejected the offer they were the main creditor so all other votes wouldn't count. Anyway they wanted me to wait another week !! i am too stressed to wait that long, i rang back saying forget the offer i was ggin to proceed with Bankruptcy , I then rang Melanies office and a lovely lady spoke to me and while i was on the phone surprisingly payplan rang back saying tesco will consider the forst offer of £3,500 if i was going to go bankrupt they will let me know by the end of today, so the outcome is they accept the £3.500 plus payments till may or tomorrow i cancel my payments and become bankrupt, Not a very productive day. :-(

They must be barmy if they turn down an offer of 22p against an IVA which originally offered 29p! Let us know how you get on, and glad Tina was of assistance to you.

I would never recommend bankruptcy, IVA or DMP - our job is to explain options. As you are already in an IVA, and have made a reasonable offer of settlement which I assume that you were happy with, wouldn't it be better to just finish that off now if you can get them to support?

I really am worried about going bankrupt but feel that i am pushed in a corner if they don't accept the first offer, I can't expect mymum to give me more money and stress her too, i find it bizarre that Tesco said no, now they are saying they can get back to me today and maybe will accept it as my only alternative is to go bankrupt, maybe they though i was bluffing or that i could get more funds as i offered the £5,000 anyway i can only offer £3,500 plus another £1000 with my payments till may, fingers crossed they come back with a yes today or I will be at the court tomorrow :-( i feel i went into an IVA and it was all worthless if i have to go bankrupt anyway :-(

Or maybe your IP is not trying hard enough to promote the merits of your offer. Do not accept anything that you will not be able to afford to repay.

Thanks Melanie

I think you are right as she has onlyjustsaid to them my alternative is bankruptcy, I am sticking to my guns, my mum agreed in the heat of the moment as she knew i was upset by the outcome, then just taking a moment to think made me realise, this is now affecting two people me and my mum and probably my baby, if they do not accept i will have to go through with bankruptcy and they will not get as much ??

It is OK to go bankrupt, if that is what you want to do, and these days it is a very simple process - and would bring finality to your situation with the debts being immediately written off. You may, however, need to pay some contributions for the three year period following the bankruptcy, so I would stick with the IVA at the moment if I were you. I am sure with a little more effort your IP will get you the result you are looking for.

Go and celebrate - the deal is done, and very soon these debts will be gone for good. I promise you!
