What a year - how long for completion certificate

Hi, I haven’t been on the forum for a while as I’ve had one of the worst years of my life. I entered into an IVA in May this year, underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour in June and then subsequently in critical care for several weeks. Made a full and final offer to my IVA which took about 3 months for a variation meeting. This was approved in October. I was just soo relieved with the year I’ve had and what more I have to deal with. I just want to thank everyone that has answered my questions the short time I was on. The question I have, is how long the completion certificate should take. I was told about 3 months from approval of full and final offer which should be mid January?

That sounds about right - you can always chase them up for it. Don't forget that you will still be on the insolvency Register for up to three months once they have been notified of your completion and your credit record will still be shot for the full six years.
Hope you are now back to full health?

I still have a long way to go and may need another operation and radiotherapy. I have been chasing them and they have said they have to follow protocol and give creditors 90 days to respond. They are just waiting on one creditor. I totally understand that I won’t come off the insolvency register until 3 months after they receive the completion certificate and my credit it shot for 6 years but it’s just the relief it’s done and I haven’t got another 5 years of payments

Hi Blade. Good to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you, even though there is still a way to go.
I am afraid that the season and the pandemic will have an effect and all I can do is to counsel patience. The IVA will sort itself out and you need to focus on yourself for now.

Thanks foggy, I appreciate your reply. I know there are more important things, like your health. I know it will come together and I need it to run it’s course. I know they have to follow protocols and timescales. It would just be lovely to have that completion certificate

Blade - so thankful you are well enough to be dealing with the F&F, but let it just play out now.
Focus on you, on what you need to do and give yourself space ... you've alot to be dealing with both physically and mentally with your health matters, so let the IVA close its "doors" without further worry.
Take care and stay in touch x
