Hi All,

Not my first post, however in my first post I was panicking about the outcome of my meeting of Creditors - 1st was on 21/8. Thanks to the responses I got on here I managed to calm down!

Since then my meeting was adjourned as one of the creditors asked for me to claim tax free childcare for my school breakfast club fees (which believe me if I could I would) however our school haven't joined to that scheme so you have to pay £3 a day per child (I have 3) out of your own pocket. However my IP relayed this to the creditor and they have changed the wording that I need to provide evidence within 3 mths that I am unable to claim it.

So as of 26/8 I now have an approved IVA in place, and the amount of relief that I felt when hearing this yesterday was unbelievable. I wish I had done this sooner rather than burying my head in the sand and wishing it would all magically disappear. Just 24 hours later I feel 100% better mentally & physically for taking control and sorting this.

I'm sure I will be in this forum a lot over the years, as the support everyone gives each other is amazing and to know that we are not on our own is knowledge that everyone needs as it can be a lonely time.

Looking forward to the debt free feeling in 5yrs time!

As you will have seen, one of the keys to a smoother ride is communication. So many issues we see here are down, at least in part, to misunderstandings ! Also, now that you are calmer, re-read your proposal over a cup of tea to make sure you know whats coming and that you understand your responsibilities under the agreement.

Iv been in the same position earlier this year and I understand your relief im 6 months in best thing iv ever done .Just think 5 years may seem a long time but paying minimum on credit cards with added interest could take 25 years ! You will learn to live off your budget and not taking credit is liberating in itself .Its no bed of roses but gives you a second chance to regain control knowing at the end you will be debt free in a sooner time than paying minimums .I love not being able to take out credit anymore best thing iv ever done look at it like this the interest you would have been paying monthly is frozen you have a chance to live now on a tight budget but no robbing peter to pay paul good look on your iva journey wish id done mine so much sooner its changed my life no creditor harrasement money juggling worth its weight in gold peace of mind restored !

I have to say the main people on here foggy kallis abbeys mum so supportive and its so re assuring to know they take there time out of there daily lives to help people on here is outstanding thank you to you all you really are worth your weight in gold for helping all of these people including me ! I really cant thank you all enough I check on these posts every day and one day hope to be a super iva adviser like you great people on this forum !

Thank you for your kind words, Colin. Unfortunately my weight in gold has increased somewhat during lockdown ( well that is my excuse anyway!) .
