Hi,
I would love some advice. My boyfriend is currently in an IVA and is struggling to deal with it all mentally. I want to support him through this as I’m really proud of him for facing it.
Is there any support like councilling or books available?
Thank you

There is Keith Whites Survival Guide as per the link at the top:
https://www.iva.co.uk/iva-survival-guide-book
Basically a brief guide and real life stories. Other than this, get him to join the forum to see that he is not alone.
What, in particular, is he having trouble coming to grips with ?

There are some very good posts on the forum of peoples journeys through IVAs and positive outcomes showing there is life on the other side. Its certainly worth getting him to take a look on here even if he doesn't feel like asking anything currently.
Regards

Sorry, No advice really as just starting out myself, but just wanted to say that you seem very kind and having someone support him (and telling him they are proud of him for trying to sort things out) will go a long way to help I think x

I didnt tell any family/friends for many years. This forum was my only source of friends, advice, knowledge, reassurance, confirmation, Rant etc.
It has been a godsend. Made me appreciate I wasnt alone and shouldnt feel ambarrassed about it. Gave me strength. Friendly supportive and knowledgable ‘regulars’ and usually always someone online to reply quickly. Even if he doesnt post, just reading other posts may help.
