Hi. Haven't been on for a while but could do with some advice..completed our iva in March 2017. No problems was quite a smooth journey. We have been on an interest only mortgage for the past 11 years which is due to finish in January 2020. So we have approached the mortgage company asking to extend the loan for another 5 years, as we can't afford to pay it. The paperwork has arrived today & it's asking if we have ever been made bankrupt or been in an iva while we have had the mortgage with the. Well obviously we have. So will this go against our application to extend.

You will need to be honest and hope they will still support you.
You might want to gain advice from either Ryan or Shaun the forum mortgage experts

You do need to be honest as a lie will be caught --- they were informed of your IVA at the time, so will know anyway ! As Luluj says, a word with Ryan and / or Shaun might prove useful.

Most Lenders will ask 'the question' in one form or another. There are High Street Lenders that we have access to who will look to lend normally though 6 years after the IVA began.
