Hi all

We are 3 months into our interlocking IVA. My partners work is becoming intolerable for him and he is looking to leave ASAP. He would sign onto an agency and look for work immediately so hopefulky he will be able to work a 4 week notice period at his current place. Then start new somewhere else. Fingers crossed!
My question is....are you able to leave employment by resignation whilst in an IVA? I've checked our paperwork and can't find anything that relates.

You are allowed to resign .... an IVA isn't designed to make life unbearable. An intolerable work situation could lead to ill health, which could affect the IVA in the longer term, so sorting things out to make the future more secure would be acceptable. However, you should also have an eye on the consequences regarding keeping the IVA viable.

Speak to your IP if things don't quite pan out .. maybe agree a payment break (which will be added back on at the end) -- but try not to fall back on lifelines unless it can't be helped as they are only limited in number and best kept as a matter of last resort.

Fingers crossed he gets a new job soon. No point staying in a job where you are not happy.
