Stepchange delaying IVA

My husband has been in a DMP with Stepchange for a couple of years but it wasn't working as with his current paymnents it would take about 18 years to be debt free. He spoke with Stepchane about going for an IVA which they agreed would be a good idea. However it has now been about 12 weeks and nothing has happened. Everytime he calls them they ask for his I&E which he has given at least 4 times, via email and phone. Nothing else has been requested and he has received no paperorkfrom them. Just wondered if anyone had any experience with them as I'm sure it should be quicker than this?

Stepchange were one of the firms I looked into when I started my IVA and were one of the firms I rejected! I have to say though, at the time, they were very much on the ball, speed-wise, and wanted everything moving along as fast as possible.
I would be inclined to discuss changing to an IVA with a couple of other companies, with at least one of those being a firm not funded by the creditors. It is normal for an IVA to be up and running within two or three months and they do seem to be dragging their feet here.

Stepchange have little incentive in proposing an IVA as they are already getting paid by creditors for operating the DMP. It may be a better idea to go to an independent firm and leave the DMP as is. Then if the IVA is approved the DMP can be cancelled but if for whatever reason an IVA is not suitable or rejected then the DMP can remain in place.
I see no reason for a new I&E as if the DMP is operating properly and being reviewed regularly then this should be fine.

If this is the level of service you are getting then I would suggest finding another IP...

Indeed, Lisa ! Better to change providers whilst this is possible.

I've been with Stepchange for over 5 years and communication has always been one of their strong points. I haven't agreed with the advisor I speak to constantly changing (as you don't actually speak to an IP) but timing wise they have always been very punctual and helpful.
Good luck getting things sorted, and if they aren't helpful then certainly change to a different company.
