Hiya
I've not been around for a while but felt the need to return to my ever trusted friends on here to ask a question and hopefully gain some peace of mind. In short I have been successful in gaining a registered managers position to work in a childrens home. Good stuff... until I filled out my ofsted application and they ask the dreaded question.. have you ever made an arrangement with your creditors.. my heart has sunk. Straight into panic mode. Will this mean ofsted will turn my registered managers application down? Does anyone know? It was over 8 years ago

Hi and welcome back
You should be truthful with the application as, if it is found out, you could be in trouble.
Some people say it doesn't matter if you answer no.
Can you make an anonymous call to Ofsted and ask the question?

Hi,
So I personally would be tempted to answer no, if there is nothing in your credit file to support this (defaults, settled or partial settled entries" and nothing in the public records section and you're no longer on the insolvency register (Google to search) you can check your credit file at noddle.co.uk or sign up to Equifax for a free 30 day trial, both will give you an instant credit report, remember to cancel your Equifax account after as it is only free for 30 days.
The flip side is that if someone ever had an axe to grind with you they could hold this over you and you could potentially be dismissed for being untruthful on a job application. It's a strange question they have asked, a bit of googling revealed this ofsted form

Is this the same question E7 ?
"Have you ever been adjudged bankrupt, been subject to a debt relief order, been subject to the sequestration of your estate, made a composition or arrangement with creditors, or granted a trust deed for creditors?"
As it is a yes/no please provide more details I would be inclined to tick yes, and then in the defaults section write IVA made with creditors 8 years ago, discharged on xx/yay/zz No creditor arrangements since then or similar.
Though I would call the ofsted number like previous poster said (there is one at the top of the form) as "Jane Smith) [unless that's your name lol] and just ask them about the implications of this, they may say oh it's only an issue if there are current arrangements etc or in the last 6 years as per credit file statutory limits.
Ps I would also send the form direct to whoever is assessing if possible and not the employer so no one at your work has to know.
Good luck.

Bit risky not to declare it as you would be answering the question dishonestly.

I agree - and if they find out - i can imagine they would retain the right to discharge you from post
