I'm a teacher and my IVA finishes In August. I have £15000 deposit from family member and looking to buy. My family member would be guarantor too if needed. Will I get a mortgage? Do Teachers Building Society give mortgages if you had IVA?

Not sure how the Teaching Building Society treat insolvency when it comes to lending after completion. Generally lenders are now requiring a borrower to be 3 years clear of the iva ie after completion before they wil consider a mortgage. A recent poster was 1 month away from the 3 years with a big deposit and could not get a mortgage, however one of the specialist brokers on this site got them a product within a few days of making contact I think. Look for Ryan or Shaun in the expert section on the forum.

You might not come off the Insolvency register until November 2016. Hopefully the mortgage experts on here can help you.
