Hello everyone, I have just been acepted for my IVA last week and have just had my insurance annual qoute through and it has gone up a HUGE amount. I asume this is because of my IVA. I have found cheaper quotes on Money Supermarket but can you buy monthly if you are in an IVA. I am hopinh Hastings Direct will accept as they are by far the cheapest. Thank you

Hi,
You can take out monthly insurance - a lot of us have done throughout an IVA.

We have all done it with no problems. Some insurance companies, however might turn you down for installments.

I've never had any trouble paying monthly while in IVA. Ive been with Alliance & Hughs. Also Halifax for home insurance.

I'm with Hastings and unfortunately I had to pay all in one go!

Hi Greg.12,
I have paid my car and home insurance via monthly instalments all the way through the near six years of my IVA without any problems being accepted by my chosen insurers.
I am currently with Hastings for my car insurance approaching renewal time and I am suprised to see that spurs has posted that they had to pay all up front, as I had no issues at all paying my policy monthly with them.
I won`t be renewing this year though, maximum no claims and they are upping my cover by £200[:0]

Goosed -- they will likely reduce the premium if you challenge it. Many insurance companies seem to try to "fleece" renewing customers to subsidise new customers lower quotes.

Like most other posters I've never had an issue with monthly payments & over the past 55 months have changed insurers several times. As Foggy said challenge them, don't meekly accept what they're currently offering, plenty of other insurers will give you better quote as a new customer.

we changed insurers a few times during the IVA, but didn't always get the best deal pricewise because some wouldn't give monthly installments. We have been with Swinton, Insure the Box (had a telematics box installed) and currently Hastings they all allowed installments no problem

Thanks everyone. I've now cancelled with Tesco as I phoned them and they said that price was the best they could do. They didn't even mention the IVA. I've got until the 1st June to sort it so will be looking around. Hastings is certainly coming up the cheapest so I am hoping they will take monthly payments but we will see.
Thanks again for the support it really helps.

Glad you're almost sorted and any other help just ask.
I paid monthly for my insurance all through the IVA and changed companies many times as always tried to get the best price. All the best.

Usually the premium is a bit higher if you pay in installments rather than a lump sum - it will be a case of shopping around and trying to get the best deal you can.
