Hi and welcome. I know when I was in my IVA I took out a new contract for my daughter with t-mobile with no problems, maybe someone has a more definitive answer for you so hang in there and do check back for any updates.

It will come down to how much they want the business I'm afraid and their credit criteria.

As the mobile providers have, in recent years, undergone much migrating of contracts, merging and folding, it is difficult to tell who takes which view these days. Certainly, during my IVA, I updated with Vodafone as well as obtaining a new contract with T-Mobile with no issues at all.

I changed from t mobile to ee last year and when they went to do a credit check I nearly died and cringed with panic running through my veins. However, it came back that I could have two mobiles yo the value of £70 credit per month. I only wanted one phone with £23 credit per month but it is fair to say that I was bowled over to get a new phone with ee and an iPhone at that

Three would never give me a contract, I had to do it through my daughter. I still kept my O2 account though and had no problems upgrading at the end of my IVA.

Throughout my IVA I was with 02 but around here the signal is next to useless, as soon as IVA was over I changed to EE.

I upgraded fine with 02 throughout the duration of the IVA but was unsure about getting a new contract.

I think if you are already with a company there is no problem with continuing, hopefully there won't be a problem with changing.

Hi Katherine,

I changed from Virgin to EE in August 2014 - I went into the local EE shop and told them straight out that my credit was poor, and I passed whatever check they did without a problem. I was pleased with that as I got a 4G phone at £5 per month cheaper than I had been doing with a Blackberry.
