I just applied for my first credit card with Barclay's and was refused and I got a form from Vanquish,I am a bit concerned if this is a good step,I have a steady job and can meet up with my monthly bills.Should I go ahead and fill the forms?

Hi and welcome,
Are you in an IVA?

Hi and welcome. If your IVA is finished assuming you've had one, Vanquis can be fairly helpful in rebuilding your credit rating until you get a High Street Card.

I too was in an IVA, finished last March. I got a Vanquis card in April and it has been helpful in rebuilding my credit history up. It should have made you very disciplined being in the IVA so having a card shouldn't be a worry. FYI my limit was £500 to start, up to £1000 in September and now up to £2000.

Hi Ruth,
I am close to the end of my arrangement and checked my credit score for free on Noddle. I'm currently 1/5 (v.poor to poor) and Aqua came up as a provider who may let me have one, not that I am going to try just yet. So they might be an option.

I used vanquis until I was able to get a credit card with my bank.
The interest rate is scary but the management of the card etc is pretty good.
