We made our last payment to Creditfix on 12th October, and after a couple of days away for half term, We arrived home last night to find our completion certificate waiting for us on the door mat!!
I had to come on here and share our news. Its been a long sometimes very hard 5 years, however this forum at times has kept me sane with my over worrying mind so I wanted to say thank you to all the posters and experts for your "virtual" support. I couldn't have done it without you!!
To anyone one out there who's just come across this forum, or who is considering an IVA, if its right for you, then just to say it will go quickly, and you're doing the right thing by trying to deal with your debts and pay back what you can. You should be proud of yourself.
I used to look on here when I was considering an IVA, and see the posters with "IVA completed" on their profile and wonder if and how I'd ever get there. Now its me!!! The feeling of being debt free is immense, and one I can't quite get my head around at the moment to be honest!!
I'm just looking forward to Novembers pay packet, when I will have an extra £750 in my pocket and things will feel so much easier! It has taught us valuable budgeting skills too, so I definitely intend to carry on with this in the future.
Thank you to Mel and PJG for setting up our IVA so professionally and thoroughly, and also to credit fix for a very swift and efficient closure.
Whether you're just starting out, or nearly there, good luck to you all in your journey to debt freedom!

Well done to you Lou74 and you Lifenoteasy, Did either of you have equity to deal with? Just wondering how Creditfix dealt with that as you area both ex PJG?

Many thanks to you all for your wishes and kind words. We have lots of dreams and plans for our family for the future, but I think the best feeling will be saving up and paying for things knowing that it was all with our own hard earned money!

Recovering: We did have equity to deal with, and for us it was borderline with just over £3k based on 85% LTV, so just under the £5k de minimis. They didn't contact me at month 54, so I took the bull by the horns, and sorted out valuations etc myself. I then emailed everything over to CF including a calculation showing that I had no equity to release from my point of view. They then got back to me fairly swiftly to confirm that was the case and that my last payment would be in October.
I did then, randomly get a letter a couple of months ago from the IP showing what looked like a desk top valuation and a calculation showing I had over £40k equity to release! Interestingly this was not at 85% LTV either. I went into a slight panic, but a quick phone call to a very helpful customer service rep resolved this, and I was told to disregard the letter as it had been sent in error, and they apologised.
So my advice would be to start the ball rolling yourself when you get to month 54 and get the leg work done in advance.
The closure process was very efficient too, and I simply had a letter saying they had reviewed my account and all obligations had been met. I had to sign the PPI form, so they could close my account and we had our CCs about a week later!
Good luck, and hope your closure is quick too
