My 6 years is up on the 18th August from the start of my iva. I keep getting aqua credit card asking if l would like to apply but what l like to know should l apply now or I'm l best waiting. Just was gonna apply for it to build my credit rating back up. Thanks in advance

Personally I would wait until August as it may give you more options. There is also the possibility that Aqua reject your application which could further damage your file. If they have 'pre approved' you and can guarantee no searches will be carried out then perhaps it would be different.

Thanks for the advice think l wait as just looked it's 3 weeks till the 18th of august so not long really. I don't want to damage my credit file anymore when I'm trying to get it better.

I agree -- wait out the few weeks, make sure your file is squeaky clean and see if you can get a mainstream, although I am happy with my Vanquis.

Thanks foggy your rite not sure if l get a mainstream one but if l can get with aqua l would want a low credit limit and would pay for something like petrol and pay it straight off each month.

We got a Vanquis too Foggy to help build our ratings, and their customer service team are great !

So you think vanquis are better to go with once the 6 years is up. I did a soft credit search and l couldn't get with them now but had 90% chance getting with aqua.

i got an aqua card 6 months ago, my IVA is complete but will remain on my file until Jan 2018. The nice thing about aqua is that although the APR is high, it reduces by 5% each year (for 5 years) so after that time will be about the same as a mainstream card and has no foreign transaction fees which is a real bonus for me with work. They gave me a £300 limit initially and just last month asked if i wanted an increase to £950. I personally think aqua is better than vanquis but if you can hold out and get a mainstream one straight away then that is a better bet.

Hi
I would wait a few weeks, then check your credit file to make sure the IVA has been removed
Good luck

Don't fret about the credit limit ( smaller is better to begin with ). It's the green ticks we are after

Thanks foggy I'm not going to worry about the credit limit just feels nice to be trusted again if you know what l mean. 6 years ago never thought l reach this point.

Set up the direct debit to pay balance in full each month so you know you are keeping on top of things and a nil balance.

Thanks luluj l will do that's great advice. I'm hoping if l got on the ladder with this l can now get a current bank account but think l wait the 3 weeks till my 6 years is up before l try for one.
