My IVA was accepted on 23/09/2009 so keeping an eye on the credit files in the hope all will be clean before too long.

However, I have spotted that 2 of my creditors marked the agreements as 'settled' but around a year later in 2010, presumably when they sold on the debts? I want them to change these dates to the date the IVA was accpeted as I beleive that is the rule.

Can anyone advise if I am correct? If they leave them on as 2010 it's still possible to see the missed payments and I might struggle to get finance etc for a year longer than I ought. I need to buy a car soon and hoping to get sensible finance offers.

The date settled is of little import. The important date is the date of default, which should be on or around the date of the IVA start.

If it is the default date that is wrong, there is a template letter you can use about half way down the page on this link:

I have the same problem with Barclays who are refusing to change the default date which is 8 months after the start of our IVA. I am now ready to contact the financial ombudsman. Other creditors have not been so awkward. I'd definitely recommend starting to send the letters out asap by registered delivery. Good luck!

Neither of these debts have been marked as 'default' only as 'settled'. If they were the right date I would be happy with that as it's less defaults on record. However as they are a year behind it will mess up the credit files.

Should I push them to add defaults on the correct date or just leave it and accept two less defaults?? One of them refers to the VT of a car, this never happened I kept the car!

The ombudsman contacted me yesterday and said Barclays will remove me but when I don't know I was supposed to be removed in august 2013 after 6 years That didn't happen for me Barclays have dragged this on and are being stubborn about this and it's been a long investigation which should not have lasted this long hope you get yours sorted out cleo76.

Sorry to hear it's taken so long. How stressful for you. I just presumed everything would be cleared after the six years but at the moment Barclays will also be dragging this out for us too.

Foggy has provided some good advice above. Sometimes it can take a little while to filter through to the credit reference agencies but persevere. None of the debts included in your IVA should record any detrimental information past the IVA date.
