Evening guys.
My hubby was in an accident in his car & it has been written off. He has had an offer made by insurance company which hubby has accepted so he can replace his car (will have to be a cheaper one). Do we have to inform IP about this. Thanks

I would personally inform your IP best to keep them all in the loop. Cannot see there being any problems though.

Tread with caution -- we have a poster in the last couple of weeks who has been asked to pay in an insurance payout ( having already bought the replacement car). So, get your IP to agree to the transaction.

I would inform the IP, but as you were allowed a car under the IVA I can't see why they would suddenly try to claim the settlement and decide not to allow you a car.
I was allowed to keep all the payout under a household policy when I was burgled a couple of years ago. My IP's attitude was that I was replacing things that I was allowed to keep under the IVA so why would they want the money.

Thanks for the replies. We don't have a car at present and hubby is relying on lifts & borrowing sons car it get to work. So this payout will just be for a replacement.

It should be fine and we would have no problem. Hopefully your own firm is the same.
