We have just paid our final payment to freeman Jones after a 6 yr contract with them. After a lot of hard work and complains about incompetency we managed to get to this date. We receive a letter asking for our wage slips and so on for our annual review thinking this very strange we called freeman Jones which they told us we had to extend our IVA for a further 6 months so they could complete the thinktoclaim and close the IVA down. Surely this is a breach of their own contract as it was for 6yrs not 6yrs and 6 months we just want our cc then we can put this whole mess behind us can anyone help pleaseeee

I would go back and challenge them - from what you are saying they want you to continue paying for another 6 months so that they can progress PPI?

FJ seem to be starting to get a lot of negative feedback at the moment about decisions that are poorly explained.

Hi. The agreement was for 60 payments, not 60 months (in all probability the paperwork will state 66 months). It is common practice to allow 6 months admin to clear the case up. You are not expected to continue payments, unless there are any arrears to be caught up.

Freeman Jones are one of the firms that are generally quite fast at getting everything tied up, so it shouldn't be too long.

Foggy -does this mean that if paying weekly you have to demonstrate 260 weekly payments?

Originally we started off as monthly but due to changes in way that money came in went weekly.

Really depends upon what you agreed when you made the change. I would have thought you would be looking at 260 over a 5 year term, but it wouldn't surprise me if some case worker assumed every month has 4 weeks in it.[:D]

My hubby is a lorry driver and can't work overtime due to driving restrictions. Month after month they tried to put payments up because he is paid night out allowance and they classed it as overtime. Massive set to with one of the rsm as she wouldn't let us explain and put payments up over £100 a month it's been a mess for the past 3 yrs not saying they are all as bad but my experience wasn't the best certainly won't ditch the firm themselves because if it wasn't for this company I have no idea where I would have been just want it over with. We agreed to pay as much as we could even using my disability payments to clear it as we got in the mess and wasn't sherking theresponsibilities

It was agreed through PJG - their attitude was if it works and money is still coming through that's all that mattered.

Hi Lilyloo72

I do understand it's important for you to be able to put the IVA behind you.

As Foggy has already mentioned usually extending the IVA by 6 months is purely so we can complete any final administration, this may include completing your final review and any PPI investigations. You wouldn't be expected to continue paying unless there are arrears or additional monies due.

I am very sorry if we haven't explained very well what is happening and why.

You are welcome to email me at; Sarah.Jolly@FreemanJones.co.uk with your reference so we can get in touch with you.

I hope this helps
Sarah
