Evening everyone. Firstly, I'd like to thank you all, as the information I've found on here while lurking has given me advice and support, even though I wasn't a registered user! I feel like I know you all, and I just wish I'd found this place back in 2009!
My partner lost his job last August and we had been on payment breaks since then, until November when the variations team got in touch to say they were going to ask for creditors to accept payments to date. I'll be honest, I wasn't holding my breath, but last wednesday afternoon I got the phone call saying they had accepted. I cried. Then I smiled. Then I cried a bit more. Then I sat for a while saying 'gosh'. My partner still hasn't had any luck with the job search, and his contributions-based JSA runs out next week, but, you know, life's ok. Things generally work themselves out, maybe not in the way you would hope for, but things will be ok. We had a hiccup with the IVA 2 years ago, same thing, redundancy, and the dreadful feeling of knowing I had to call GT to beg for a payment break every month is something I know I will never have to feel again, and that just gives me such a sense of relief. Don't get me wrong, the IVA was the best decision we ever made, we've learnt so much about ourselves, how strong, deep down, we really are, and knowing that there are other good people out there, in the same boat, well, it brings a kind of comfort, I suppose.
So, to finish, I would like to thank GT, they done good in the end! And to you, dear forum members. I don't think you will ever know the impact you have on anonymous people, who just come and read, and don't register. And also to all of you who have been moved over to Creditfix, no words I can type will help your situations, but know that I feel for you all. The life of an IVA are peppered with worries and stress, even if they all go to plan, and to have this happen to you is just horrendous. I wish you all the very best.
