My IVA completed in Nov 2014, I've not yet received my certificate. Can I apply for a credit card to start trying to build my credit rating?

Many at your stage have got themselves a Vanquis card. However, until you get that certificate you are still bound by the IVA terms regarding getting further credit.

Hi,
I received my certificate in December and I wanted to do the same. Before applying I thought it best to set about making sure my credit files were in order. That takes a while but it's better than being turned down because of a mistake. I'm also still on the insolvency register until March so I'm going to wait for that to go too. Hopefully the patience will pay off..lol.
My Noodle report matched me with an 80% chance of getting an Aqua card even at this early stage. I'm hoping there will be others once I'm off the register. Over the last 2 weeks I've had a number of offers from Vanquis. I assume this isn't a coincidence and they must know I've completed but I'm not going to be tempted just in case it fails and I have to wait even longer..Good luck.

You could get a vanquis or similar, or like the add on yahoo "bad credit cards for savvy brits" ehhhh!!! If you've got any sense wait till year six has slipped by and get a regular card, maybe one with 0%. Many ex iva,er's will tell you getting a decent credit card post IVA (that means year six and all trace from your CR gone)is relatively easy, possibly to easy.
My conclusion and it's only that, credit history only needs to be rebuilt if it's bad to begin with
and that is an impossible stand point post IVA.
