I had previosuly sent a query with reference Harrington Brooks requesting I make a payment of £2089 within 14 days. They had included my travel costs as income. They advised they will be removing the reimbursements of £400 but that I still owe money as my earnings had increased. I pointed out to them that my tax credits lowered due to me increasing my hours. They advised that they are only looking at my salary increase and not my tax credits lowering. Is this right? Should they not take all my income into consideration rather than just looking at my salary increase?

They SHOULD be looking at the tax credits lowering too as it impacts on your income and expenditure.

Contact them again and ask to speak to someone more senior. Dont be fobbed off.

Some of the staff employed by IVA companies really do my head in whe dealing with what really is a simple issue.

At review they should be looking at NET increase (after allowing for decreases elsewhere as well as increases in expenditure).

Bonuses, overtime and commission are dealt with monthly but pay rises are dealt with at the annual review after a new I&E has been done. Speak to the IP as this seems to be a mistake if they are not allowing decreased tax credits to be offset against the very increase in income that affected the tax credits.

I called to try and discuss this but I feel as though I am getting nowhere. I recently did my yearly review with them and they appear to have ignored my income listed together with supporting documentation. They have latched onto the fact my salary has increased and insist I owe money.

When I continued to query why my tax credit reductions were not being taken into consideration the lady I spoke to got increasingly irritated with me. When I mentioned I was going to get advice on this matter and requested details for the financial ombudsman, I was told there was no need to do so which raised a red flag for me

If you are talking to them again ask to be sent a copy of their internal complaints procedures, you must do this before approaching any ombudsman.

Louisedy21, I am one of the Insolvency Practitioners at Harrington Brooks. From talking to my financial review team I have been able to identify you and there appears to have been a misunderstanding here. Sara who you spoke to has already drafted a file note to pass to me to confirm that there is no additional money due. I have listened to a recording of the telephone conversation from this morning and that is the message she was attempting to convey. I apologise if that is not how it sounded to you and trust that this will reassure you. Sara will be in touch to confirm this in due course.

Hi Linrog, I am going into my 4th year with Harrington Brooks and I have to say that I have not had any issues with them until this issue popped up. I am pleased it has been sorted as it takes a load stress off my shoulders
