Hello, finally last payment paid and IVA finally? cleared. I am waiting for details about certificate and when practitioners name removed from house deeds. Whilst all this is going on I want to try and start rebuilding my credit history. Could anyone help?, Have details of where I can confirm if name/debts removed from IVA files etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Until your certificate is received your credit file will retain evidence of your iva. Defaults will disappear on the 6th anniversary from their input date.
In the meantime manage your bank account effectively, ensure you are on the electoral role and things like mobile phone and utility bills being kept in good order will help.

I have a question related to this.
If I were to get one of those low-level credit cards (Vanquis or Aqua) and use it occasionally, paying off fully each month, during my IVA then when the defaults and IVA drop off at the end, will I not have a much better credit rating that starting afresh at the end?
I'm thinking that these new cards could show a few years of good management already in place for when the defaults drop off.
Thoughts anyone?

Hubert: Although some have managed, you might not get granted a card. Your IP might object (which clause do you have in this regard?)
I have mixed feelings about these cards --- one one hand they can be used to demonstrate a payment record, on the other it kind of "red flags" you have a "difficult" financial history.

Personally I would wait whilst your IVA concludes ... your credit rating won't change whilst in your iva.

Thanks for the replies people.
I can get £500 credit without permission.
I think I'll leave it. I agree that nobody is likely to have these cards unless they have had financial trouble and that might be a warning sign on the credit reference.
To be honest, like most people on here, I can't actually see myself wanting any credit ever again.
The one exception is mortgage...
