Hi Guys and dolls,

Hurray we have received our CC from GT in record time. Our F&F was accepted back in April and as of 11th Sept we became officially debt free 4 years ahead of our arrangement due to dramatic changes in our situation. We are thrilled to bits, the Cert landed on our door mat last week.

HOWEVER, along with the certificate of completion we have had letters from a couple of our creditors showing the balance of our accounts with the full amounts still active? You know the ones, the letters which say 'you do not need to do anything about this letter, its just for your records' then a phone number with payment info on as if in a vain attempt to get you to pay up.

I'm just confused as to why we would be getting 'balance' letters showing the 'opening & closing' balance which suggests nothing has changed? Surly they should be showing the balance as zero with a letter to suggest that the accounts are now satisfied?

Hi Jules and CONGRATULATIONS!

The creditors can take a few months to catch up with the real world ! The strange balances could be because many creditors set up dummy accounts during an IVA to receive payments, then just close the whole thing down at the end. Others have agents who accept the payments, again they will simply close the account come the final reckoning.

Thanks Foggy,

Thanks for the reassurance, I did think as much but then the latest one is dated 4th November. Hopefully they will all catch up soon. Our names are still on that damn register, another huge mile stone will be when we disappear off of it.
Which company are we best using to sort our credit files out? I've checked on Noodle and quite a few of the dates are incorrect. I thought that they should all start on the first day our IVA was approved? Currently they do not reflect this and the dates are somewhat sporadic?

Congrats Jules!
Just wanted to say that if you go to the Insolvency Register, search your name etc and click on it, at the bottom theres a a tab that says 'Report Error' click it and tell them in the comment box that you have your completion certificate, letter from IP and Creditors report/final accounts letter and the date your IVA was completed. They will get back to you pretty quickly asking for the documents and once sent, your details will come of the register within 24 hours. I was also with GT and got my CC last week and got the amendments made the same day so their pretty quick. As for the CRA, just get in touch with all 3 and send them a copy of your CC. Its a waiting game but I had dates amended and a correction notice put up against the creditors who hadn't updated yet. Heres hoping its all sorted soon for you.

Helpless, although that often happens the procedure that they should employ is that you are removed from the Insolvency Register after three months. So it is better to expect that sort of timescale. Any faster is a bonus.

Great news and well done. Remember as your iva finished 4 years early your credit files will remain with reference to iva and defaults until the 6th anniversary from start date. What will happen is your file will be amended to satisfied but it won't be deleted.

Thanks All,
I'm in no rush to get it sorted as it wont affect us one way or another anyhow for the 4 year time we have remaining left to run for the full 6 years to be completed.
I just wanted to know how was best to get our credit files ship shape and bristol fashion whilst we waited out our time. I want all the defaults to say 15th March 2012 but at the moment they have dates even from the start of this year showing.
I've looked at the link you shared Foggy thank you.
