After having my f&f accepted DFD have contacted me asking me to sign a Deed of Assignment. I actually did this in December 2013 as a change in terms of my IVA, which they now say they can't find, and are sending me another to complete. The problem is it has to be witnessed and no-one knows that I'm in an IVA. In Dec I got my team leader to witness it as he had a relative that was in an iva so understood what it was. I'm no longer working and in touch with him, so how the heck do I get this witnessed? I thought maybe my building society manager? Any ideas
/suggestions people?

Your family GP would perhaps be another option. Where in the country are you based - Essex I imagine!

It appears you are not alone ... a number people are being asked to do another one ... it isn't fair! You could see if your lovel jobcentre will witness it if you take ID in ...some will some won't.

Intrigued as to how Melanie knew where you were based too?
Dr's generally charge an extortionate amount for anything.
Is it a signature they're witnessing or to verify they know you?

Its witness to my signature. I'm so annoyed because as you say this is probably now going to cost me money.

I'm wondering if you could do this via a webcam and one of us witness it for you. Probably a ridiculous idea but what do experts think.

I think the poster's name may have provided Melanie a clue! She was probably double checking in case it was local to someone who could witness the signature.
I think the post office can be used to witness signatures but if you have to pay it might be worth sending DFD the bill and asking for it to be taken from your next payment. They did lose the first one so you should not be out of pocket.

thanks Michael, I could just deduct it from the 30,000 I'm about to give them!

A Commissioner for Oaths will witness it ... for a fee.

If it was us I doubt if we would object to that. 15% of £30k means we could swallow a tenner or so for the signature to be witnessed!

Just an update - a very nice man working at the Halifax Building Society has witnessed and signed the Deed of Assignment for me at no cost.

Nice to see not all financial institutions are out to make money and do actually do some good deeds.
