What happens to the ppi money after I have received my certificate of completion because I am sure I had a letter stating that I would get some money back

This really depends on your case so you need to discuss this with your own IP. Not all terms and conditions are the same.

Yes I was told by grant thornton that i would get some money back as well but grant thornton have told me to contact EIC myself.
