We started a DMP with Payplan almost 5 years ago with massive debts of £135K.The going has been hard and long with 3 family deaths, my husband losing his job, my having a nervous breakdown, son no 2 having an horrific accident , our beloved family dog having been put to sleep but ...... today I spoke to Payplan and they have closed our file. We were able to settle our debts ( albeit a few were partial settlements) and have repaid in excess of £160k as a number of them applied interest right up to the bitter end!
Anyway, the relief is incredible - we are now in the position that , with the exception of £1500 owed on the mortgage because out endowments were short, we have no debts!! OK , so we have no spare cash until we have repaid the mortgage , but in 3 months that will be completed as well.
I posted on here a few times for support and advice and am so grateful to those of you kind enough to respond. We chose to tell no one of our debts so this was a vital link in desperate times!

I wish everyone well in their on going journeys to be debt free - we have learned so much from ours and we have no intention whatsoever of having to make it again!! We have learnt lessons for life!!
Once again , thank you all!

Thank you to all those that replied! We are now looking forward to fixing up the house as it was somewhat neglected during the DMP and will be having a fortnight's family camping with a wee bit more in our pockets!
