Hi all

My car insurance is due for renewal and I compared prices, applied for insurance and have been told that I cant pay by monthly direct debit and have to pay in full.

I take it this is because of the IVA never entered my head that car insurance would be refused.

Any ideas as I can afford to pay in full

thanks in advance

Jo

Hi gafjo

We changed our insurers while in IVA, Swinton let us pay by DD and gave one of best quotes. They only asked if we had ever been made Bankrupt, which we haven't as IVA is different from Bankruptcy as far as I am aware.

Shop around. Somebody will agree to monthly payments. We used swinton for a year as well but the 2nd year renewal was horrendous so we went elsewhere.

We've previously used Swinton too on dd. But we swapped to Tesco last December as they hiked up their prices and was accepted with no problems and pay on dd. They were also a lot cheaper too

It will depend on how the insurer structures things.

some accept the premium monthly, like a utility bill, others structure it as a personal loan for the years premium. IMHO they are likely to credit score these differently and in the latter case it may not be your insurer credit scoring you

If you can it's often much cheaper to pay for the whole year. Maybe your IP could help with budgeting for this so next year you have the premium saved.

Hi, I changed a few times within my IVA with monthly payments so a lot of insurers will let you, worth shopping around.

We have changed our's recently too, no issues what so ever. Go on the comparing websites and try someone else.

I am currently with Tesco and have just had my renewal quote come through. Amazingly it is £2.00 a month cheaper so I wont be changing. Tesco are definitely worth a go as they are very competitive for price and I know quite a few people that use them whilst in an IVA.

Forget the likes of Swinton and Admiral. They are notorious for not allowing monthly payments.

I've never had a problem getting pay monthly. Try Esure and One Call. I've used both in my iva.

I renewed last week with the green insurance company, cheapest for me by far, no problem with monthly payments
