Hello

I'm wondering if anyone here has had luck getting a mortgage after an IVA and after the full 6 years (so it has left the credit file)?

I know there are two experts on here (have emailed them and waiting for a reply) but has anyone else had luck using a regular bank, or private broker to get a mortgage? I have a decent sized deposit which will be given to me by family but I am wondering if it's best to let a good year or two pass after the above has fallen off my credit record.

Any stories/advice etc are appreciated!

There are two reputable experts who regularly post on the forum as experts - Ryan from Zebra Finance and Shaun Vickery from The Select Partnership. It is definitely worth giving one of them a call to see what the options are.

Echo what Mel has said ... I am sure both will be in contact following your email to them.

We used Ryan nearly three years ago now to gain a mortgage and at that time the iva was completed and still on record.
We are now in the process of cleaning up our credit files on all three major credit agenides Callcredit, Experian and Equifax ....important to check all three as all hold different information to the other, and when you think you are clear and then check another to see defaults on, then ir is very disheartening .....so my advice is to check all three before doing anything!

I have not had an email directly from you, what address did you send it to?
I can say, if the IVA is off your credit file and the file is clear of all adverse entries, obtaining a mortgage is definitely possible. There is no need to wait for a year or 2.

Hi Cherrypink, I can't trace having received an email from you either but of course I can't always recognise it from people's username, especially one as glorious as yours! It's certainly possible, depending on your individual circumstances and it doesn't always have to have disappeared from your credit file either.
