Hi my partner was a year into his IVA and struggling with the increased payment amount , and agreed via a leaflet for IVA helpline to help him go down the bankruptcy route which he thought was the only option . he then paid 6 payments of £260 to this company last year and has heard nothing since ?? Is there anything he can do to try snd get this money back .? Thanks for your time

Hi Macca and welcome to the forum
What were these payments taken for, and did your partner sign any form of contract with this company? Why did he not just apply for bankruptcy directly to his local Court - it is a very simple process these days and paid professional assistance really should not have been necessary.

Hi
Do you have any further details
We have over the years come across various outfits promising the same but not delivering, many were based on the south coast

Most of these companies are based around Poole in Dorset and have different but similar names. It may be worth speaking to trading standards to see if there is any hope of recovering your money.

Hi thanks for your reply , no he didnt sign a contract it was all done over the phone . He was and still is very naive financially and i dont think he realised it was for bankruptcy , I have contacted trading standards to see if they can offer any further advice . Thank you
