I have recently made my last payment and am now receiving numerous unsolicited offers of a low limit, high rate card. I have learned my lesson but clearly they didn't learn theirs.
My point is I am assuming that the insolvency record is being trawled. How ethical is this. I have paid dearly from falling into the debt trap once and the government allows a public record of my indiscretions to be exploited again. Or am I Just being paranoid?

Funnily enough I started getting these soon after my F&F was accepted --- and I was still showing as current on the IR ! Coincidence ????

My experience with these people is that nothing is accidental or chance

They do trawl it I'm guessing as well as people they try and persuade you to let them assist you with bankruptcy whilst in an IVA! Join the MPS and warn them it's what I do, I never seem to get a second letter.

That's not quite the point though is it. They shouldn't be given the opportunity to trawl in the first place.

I totally agree and my one bug bear of an IVA is the register, Andy campaigned for its withdrawal from the pubic domain albeit unsuccessfully in the past.

Not sure the benefits of a public register make up for the downsides!

Good question foggy. What are the benefits and for who?

If there were no benefits they wouldnt have one although it is a struggle from a debtors point of view to come up with reasons to keep it.

Creditors probably like it?!?

They should make creditors pay for access -- another revenue stream I am surprised the Government have overlooked !
