Hi I completed my iva in 2011, and we are currently in the process of purchasing a new home through the help to buy goverment scheme.
We haven't told anyone that I was in an iva, but would this be picked up at any point ie. when the searches are carried out.
We were cleared for the credit checks and given a mortgage agreed in principle.
But I heard that the bankruptcy search and land registry search may cause problems.
Thanks

Hi Louise and welcome to the forum
Whilst the old IVA will not show up on a current search of the insolvency register, I believe that some lenders actually hold historic information so the old IVA may well show up on that.
Your IVA will not show up on a bankruptcy or land registry search however, and so long as you have answered all of the questions on your application form honestly, I am sure that you will sail through the process.
Best of luck!

Thank you!
I started my IVA early 2006 and completed early 2011.
Have to say it was the best thing I ever did.
Then in early 2012 I started checking everything bad had been removed from my credit files.
Thanks for the good luck - I need all the luck I can get

The most important thing is that you answered all of the questions honestly in your application. As long as you did then you should be fine. Have you had your mortgage offer yet?

Good luck louise.
Can I ask if you went via an estate chin to look for mortgage and which company is it with?
Just thinking who may be a good bet for the future if they don't ask the question!

Best of luck Louise. It isn't unknown for people in your situation to have a decision in principle accepted only to be turned down at formal application stage so I'd recommend you get to this point as soon as possible so that you know for sure. Keep us informed.

Hi

Having completed your IVA it would be a shame not to be able to move forward with a house purchase
