I have just got in touch with Grant Thornton as I wanted to know if I could complete my IVA early and asked about the equity release as I have quite a bit of equity in the property. I got a very helpful lady who explained everything to me including all about the PPI claims and even phoned the co. dealing with it to see if there was anything else I need to do. She also ran through how to get my valuation and the documentation I needed when the equity release is looked into. I found her very pleasant and so very helpful. She also said if I needed to know anything else just call. I thought I would post this as there are a few posts complaining about them. I have to say they have been more than helpful and sympathetic throughout my IVA.

Personally no problems with GT myself and like you have had thoughtful and courteous service when I have had to call them.

Good to hear Kayleigh and thank you for posting this positive experience.
Like you and Merlin I have always had excellent service, and it is fair to say that my opinion comes from a stand point of not being a fan of the company !

Yes - very good to see a balance of posting, but let's mot get too carried away. She was doing the job she is required to do at an adequate level - that is what all employers expect of their employees at least!

Very true, Mel. However, with many firms this is becoming a rarity and some case workers border on the obnoxious, so should be celebrated.

We have found them to be very helpful too.
On a couple of occasions they have not replied to emails but a phone call has normally sorted out the problem.
I'm waiting for closures now with my final I&E review report but they have confirmed already that we have no surplus in our income so thats all ok.
Well hopefully they will get things more organised this year with the PPI issue etc.

Our IVA finished at the end of April. We had our MVM in May and was passed to closures in June. We were told that it would take six months from this date. Today I received an email to say that our IVA was closed at the end of December! We are still awaiting the paperwork but at least I have had confirmation that it is definitely finished!
One point to note though, I did email them on a monthly basis to confirm that our case would be closed when they said it would and to be fair they have stuck to their word. I have always found GT helpful and responsive but maybe we have just been lucky? We were previously with another company as well.

Still don't see why it has to take six months - but at least they gave you an expectation and stuck to it.

They told me too that it would be 6 months to be completed after all my payments are made. It seems far too long especially after you have complied with the terms of the IVA for 5/6 years, you just want to get on with your life. I will want to sell my house as I will be coming up to retirement and this will delay everything. So not so good Grant Thornton

Six months is what is written into the proposal as a guide to the maximum. However GT have always regarded this as the minimum.
Most companies, I gather, work towards completion from an early date, getting things tied up as soon as practicable. GT, on the other hand, having a dedicated closures department, do nothing until the payments cease.
