Hi, just a quick question if you enter an iva and you work in the uk and work under the government as security officer can you lose your job while being in an iva?

Probably not (not due to the IVA) -- although I imagine you would have to declare it. An anonymous call to HR might help.

Check your contract of employment or speak to HR as Foggy says.

Even if there is a clause in your contract, you could challenge it. On the other hand a lot of people wouldn't disclose the IVA. unless your employer checks the register, they are unlikely to find out. Not that I am condoning this, but I work in HR and disagree with clauses in contracts relating to an IVA for the majority of roles.

If you was declared bankrupt and was security in a financial instuition they would review your position.
The S.I.A badge is totally unaffected by IVA or Bankruptcy so you have no problems there.
My job in security was totally unaffected during my IVA

I guess it does depend upon your role and your specific terms and conditions. In my experience, the public sector seem to take a harsher and more antiquated view of personal insolvency than the private sector.

I would not even think about checking the insolvency register for any new joiners to my company.

Just out of interest melanie, do your employees have to complete a 'fit and proper' questionnaire?
