Once your credit file has cleared up you can get a mortgage. This would be six years from the date the IVA was accepted and use a specialist at the time who will know where to place the mortgage.

Its harder for people with good credit history to secure mortgages these days so dont expect it to be easy but it is possible with a decent deposit to secure lending for a home.

Should you be able to get a normal high street mortgage once your iva is complete and credit files etc have been tidied up or will it have to be a specialist lender?

You can get a mortgage with a High Street lender but not all of them.

Hi Hayley,
As the others have said, this is not easy, but it can be done, we have helped many of the forum members obtain mortgages.
