I have noticed from here that not many people post about the success of obtaining a mortgage after an iva.. I am currently in an iva and have a mortgage but want to move after my iva is completed. I have been advised that there are mortgages out there but the interest rate is between 8 & 9%. Did anyone mange to obtain a mortgage with a better rate than this after their finished.

The best advice i can give is that you use a mortgage broker such ad Ryan or Shaun. They have access to a range of products that suit people who have had bad credit in the future ... Contacts details either under members tab or the ask the experts on the left

Morning,
Just a line to let you know, we finished our IVA in February this year and have received our completion certificate, throughout the IVA we had a mortgage with NRAM, on saturday we remortgaged with Nationwide ( who we have banked with throughout)

There is hope

A lot depends on your individual circumstances (how much deposit/equity you have, date that your IVA was registered etc.) and deals will vary but it's often possible to obtain a competitive rate from a high-street lender. I'll be happy to give you a bit more of an idea if you can let me have a bit of background info. You can email this to me directly at shaunv@equity-online.co.uk if you'd prefer it to be confidential.

I got the keys to my new house 3 days ago [:)]

My IVA came off my credit reports 18 months ago and I approached a small local building society direct with a 15% deposit. I was completely honest from the start with them about my IVA and they approved it on their 'normal' rates (a 3 year fix at 3.29% which I thought was excellent!!)

Yes there is definitely hope [:)]
