Hi - I started my IVA in June 2007 and I settled my IVA early with Debt Free Direct in January 2013 but I have still not received my Certificate of Completion or anything in writing. I have phoned and e-mailed multiple times but I am getting nowhere. They keep telling me they have to wait for Equity in Finance to finish PPI claims - I am 100% certain that I never took out PPI. Surely it shouldn't take 7 months to sort out. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Hi tiger.
My ppi has been ongoing for alot longer. I would firstly chase eif to make sure that they have recd your paperwork and maybe see if judith the dfd rep on the forum can pick this up for you. Shes intervened in my case and I have a variation later this month to req closure isnt held up by ppi.
Good luck

7 months is quite good, EIF have been at mine for 17 months and still ongoing. I'm not in a hurry though. I would say that you have to chase EIF, ask questions etc because efficiency isnt within their business model.

At the moment the Financial Ombudsman Service has a 12 - 18 month lead time on PPI complaints........so not a quick process.

Thankyou for all the advice - I am trying to find a number for EiF but I haven't kept any paperwork from them. I am waiting for a callback from DFD at the moment. Being new to this site I have been reading a lot of the posts and there are a lot of people who have been waiting a lot longer than me so its a waiting game then.

Tiger your right it is a waiting game but in reality it should'nt be.....it seems very much dependant on which IVA Company you use and in my opinion this PPI issue alone would certainly be one of the points I would be looking at if looking for an IVA Company to represent my best interests.

Hi Pennyless - you're right, what annoys me is DFD didn't mention anything about claiming for PPI or appointing a third party (EiF) who would take ages to do anything when I made the early settlement offer. I borrowed money from my family to end it almost 2 years early so I could start getting my life back on track. It seems to me that because I have now paid my IVA, DFD aren't interested in me now and it doesn't matter how long it drags on. Its good that I am no longer making any payments but I wanted to be able to sort my credit file out. I was told that after 6 years from the start of the IVA it doesn't show on your file if your IVA is officially closed. I don't know if this is true or not. I've passed 6 years now but i'm still classed as active. Clairemichelle said to try and contact Judith so i'll email her and see if she can help. I won't give up though - thanks for all the helpful advice.

Hi tiger99 welcome to the forum
Unfortunately as you can see 7 months isn't out of the ordinary with some companies and is still seen as a short timescale. That is not true of all but I do hope you get a resolution fast so you can close the chapter and move on. Best wishes.

Hi Tiger, you have to keep onto this company as they don't treat it as a priority and I do have to say that i'm very concerned that sometimes it would appear they are taking their lead from the IVA company that employed them!!
I would contact them weekly and if at all possible get a contact name from EIF as they are renowned for having several people on the same case so no wonder something gets lost in the translation of it all.
Good luck and best wishes, hopefully you will have what is rightfully yours soon.

Hi all - just a quick update, I e-mailed my details to Evette and I received a phone call from DFD this week. They are going to arrange a creditors meeting to propose closing my IVA outside of the PPI business. I have to allow 28 days for the meeting and if all goes well and the variation is accepted then a further 4 weeks to receive my CC. They said that everyone that has been put forward for this has been accepted so hopefully in a couple of months it will be finally be sorted. A big thankyou to Evette.

EIF have been trying to get our PPI for over two years. They keep sending out the same claim forms, 5 lots this year, god knows how many more we will receive. I don't think they are competent.
