On the 8th July, I am scheduled to complete my final payment into my IVA arrangement. I am with Grant Thornton, previously Blair Endsersby.

Recently I had to take a payment break due to some unexpexcted bills etc. I have been speaking to GT quite a lot recently and was told as my arrangement was in errears I would need to increase my final two payments to cover the missed payment. I have done this and from speaking to them recently they told me once these two increased payments are made my IVA arrangement will be complete.

As I want to try and wrap things up quickly, I called them yesterday and asked to make my final payment over the phone rather than via direct debit next week. Fine they said and just as I was about to provide my card details, the operator said that I had to pay an additional £591 which was bonus / overtime payments in 2010. I questioned this as I don't get a bonus from my job and any overtime is given back as time in leiu. The lady from GT said, she had no further details on this as this was from when my IVA was with Blair Endersby. I said I was not paying this because I have never received any bonus payments etc. She then replied that failure to pay this will be a breach of the arrangement and therefore my IVA will fail despite paying into it for the past 6 years. My question, is this right? Can GT fail my IVA and do I not have any rights to question this sum of money which has now come up out of the blue? From speaking to GT over the past few months, this sum of money has never once been mentioned.

I've told GT I am not paying this as 1.) they have no details as to what it is and 2.) from speaking to GT recently they told me once my final two payments of £625 my IVA would be complete and no further payments would be required.

Thoughout my time with GT I have always been co-operative with them, doing everything they asked, including the PPI forms they recenty sent me.

This has somewhat left a bitter taste in the mouth as I was looking forward to completing my IVA this month once and for all. Now, I have been told I must extend it for 1 more month to pay the £591.

I would really appreciate anyone's advice here. I have spoken to GT about this and we just end up going round in circles.

Thank you,
Andrew

Hi, I just finished my I iva with gt and found some of there customer service staff to be plain rude. Also they work from what is on there screen so will never budge from what that says. Email Carol, her details are in the contact me section or somebody else should come along who can give you the address. She is the gt person on this site. Surely if you have never received overtime or bonuses this should easily be shown on your pay slips, p60s and bank statements. Carol is pretty helpful and as a manager can look in to things better than the customer service people.

Disappointing I know when you think you are at the end. I would seek written evidence of where they feel this additional money was learnt I.e which payslips, bank statement Or P60 do they have to demonstrate this alleged aditional income ..explain that once that is proven you will make arrangements to pay but at tjis stage your adamant you do not owe this.

Good luck and let us know when it has been resolved.

Folks, just thought I would put an update on here with regards to my situation. I asked for the alleged additional payment to be reviewed and escalated to GT Management. A review was held today and due to lack of evidence the payment is NOT required. So, in essence, as my monthly payment left my bank today this now completes my 5 1/2 year IVA. Obviously my arrangement has to go through the closure team to ensure all the I's and T's have been crossed but the kind lady at GT just informed me no further payments are required! I just hope my closure does not take years like some poor folk on here but it's going to be so nice not to have to pay out £625 every month. The IVA has certainly tought me a lesson and I shall not be getting into a financial situation like this again thats for sure.

I just want to finish off by saying to people who are thinking about going into an IVA or people who are in one, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just be honest with your IP and if you are struggling with the payments etc just give them a call, all they ask for is to be kept in the loop.

Finally a massive thank you to all the contributors on this forum, I've had brilliant advice from the IPs and everyone else. The forum really is a great place to be. Thanks to each and every one of you!

Hi aimismith, I am pleased to hear you do not have to pay the sum, it sounded as if a mistake had been made somewhere, probably prior to GT taking over, it would be most unfair to ask you to pay the benefit of something you have never received! Well done on reaching the end of your IVA and I hope you get your completion certificate in a timely manner so you can put it all behind you.

I am glad you have found the forum useful and a great support to you and I wish you every best wish from this point forwards.
