Hello, can anyone tell me how long I should have to wait for a completion certificate, I paid my last payment in October last year and still not got it, My IVA people are saying they need to have creditors meetings to confirm everything, including PPI and VAT ?
Its really annoying, I have paid my money, yet the debt is still on my credit file
Is there a time period, where they have to issue the completion certificate

You are not with GT by any chance, are you ? Some of their clients have been waiting in excess of 2 years pending them sorting out the PPI and VAT fiasco that most other firms sorted out many, many moons ago.

There isn't a time limit as far as I know. Different IPs seem to work to different time scales I think. Am hoping to get mine by the end of June although will believe it when I see it!

Yes Grant Thornton
Do I have to just wait then ?
Its not fair is it, Ive paid my money and want it removed from my file
Ived also been awarded PPI and paid up everything early - paid each month about 10 days early each month
Can I force it, or send them a letter ?

You could email Karol on
ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com putting just "IVA Forum" in the subject line. She has helped many here to progress matters ( but not closures, so far). I have always found her to be very helpful and, if anything can be done, it will be.
Other than that it is a waiting game --- yes, grossly unfair, especially as GT are one of the few firms to hold you to the terms of your IVA post last payment, whilst awaiting the closure.

I'm in the same situation as you waiting for C/C from GT. It's very depressing when you are excited about finishing and it drags on and on. No one tells you about this at the beginning.

To be fair, IVAclosure, when most of us started this journey this was an unknown spanner.
GT were never the fastest at closures, though, as they seem to regard the 6 month admin period as a MINIMUM time scale, whereas it is actually intended to be the maximum. Indeed many firms take a matter of weeks -- even with the current problems.

Saddened to see another poster who made their last payment some time ago still not get closure. Contact GT directly to find out what the procedure and timescale is. I suspect that due to a recent ruling in the PAYMEX VAT decision, this is likely to affect GT closures even more - and can I stress that this is not their fault.

That VAT is chargeable on supervisory fees, where the case has been transferred from one IP firm to another. Talk about nightmare!

Oooh dear ... just as the waters were beginning to clear.

A bit unfair where cases have been transferred and we have no choice.
Then we get charged more again.

Your creditors are effectively the ones bearing these costs jeffw - unless you are targeted to repay your debts in full of course.

No wonder GT are getting antsy when questioned over VAT
