...All creditors accepted our proposal!

So thats that now then...officially on the road to being debt free!

Dont get me wrong i know its gonna be a long and bumpy journey but the relief is unbelievable. We got first bank statement this morning and money in is more than money out for a change. I can fill up with petrol and not have panic attack about card being declined.

We are ashamed we have had to resort to this and hubby feels a failure but we are also aware we have faced our debts and paying back what we can afford and are determined to complete this.

I am incredibliy grateful for all your advice since finding yhis forum and I will keep turning to you for advice during my IVA term.

Many thanks to mel/marc for their time getting this arranged for us.

59 payments to go!

Excellent news. Don't feel at all ashamed. We all got into debt through various means, but always had the intention ( and belief) we would pay it off ---- however, fates conspired against us ... and here we are ... doing the best we can with what we have got. That is not failure.

thanks for your kind words. hubby planning to open bottle of bubbly (non alcoholic as im still feeding baby daughter!) and sit down to cut up credit cards! Foggy we always expected to pay things off and took out loan to consolidate but never got rid of credit cards so ended up using them for increased costs of living and sadly all snowballed. Wish we'd faced it sooner. I would be very grateful for any tips you guys have on managing iva and best budget ideas.

Well done abbiesmum! So pleased for you and as the others have said, please don't feel ashamed. It is a wonderful feeling once you are debt free.

It may feel like a long road - treat it as if you have a 5 year loan to clear your debts. I had loads of those over the years and still managed to increase our debts!

This is your chance to do it and come out the other side debt free.
