When we started off applying for our IVA's in Decemeber we went to Yorkshire Bank to open our new accounts we did tell them we were having money worries ect and asked for a ready cash basic account she advised that they credit check on even a basic accounts although at the time our credit was good and talked us in to a normal full current account of course no Overdraft facility or cheque book.
Now starting to worry that they will close our account with it not being a basic account does anyone have any experience of this or still operate a full account with them whilst in an IVA?

Have not heard of Yorkshire bank trying to downgrade accounts with IVA - so hopeful its safe. Perhaps look at Yorkshire Building society account(transactor) as a fall back - use it for savings (it offers some interest) and you can set up DD/So on it - it also comes with a ATM card

dont worry about them closing down your account.
i too opened a full current account with no overdraft more than 4 years ago and everything has been fine(even my monthly iva payments goes out from it on a standing order)
the online banking is great to keep track of stuff.
as long as you dont get into difficulties with it i dont think they would even be looking at doing anything.

Although not with Yorkshire Bank I've always run a full current account with Smile (co-op) alongside my basic account and used the cheque book facilities of this.

Like Lesely I had a full account with Smile Bank for the duration of our IVA and had a cheque book. We requested for the overdraft facility to be removed from our account and have never looked back. You will be fine with the Yorkshire - they have a good reputation - shame there are not many branches around here !

I had the same thing happen to me with YB. Explained my situation and still passed the CC to get a full current account. Nearly three years later and had no problems. Card payments and SO to my IVA Company have never raised a single Yorkshire eyebrow.

I have had a full Halifax account since I began initially with my DMP and subsequent IVA with no problem. As long as you keep in credit there won't be a problem x

I got a full Barclays account - no overdraft or anything though - just before I entered into the IVA, and I've had no problems at all with it, so far anyway!
