Hi All
Has anyone seen or heard an update from GT on closures and PPI?
I had a call from the PPI claim team this morning and they said that based on legal advise they would be persuing all PPI claims and people would not be able to opt out.
They were not aware of any proposal to close IVA's while PPI was still outstanding.
Let's discuss......

Unfortunately there isn't much to discuss as GT still refuse to either communicate directly with those who have concerns and questions about their closure, or post a statement of intent on here. Despite Mel and Andy saying they have both spoken to GT personally with reference to the continued and increasing number of members posting questions on this forum.
I don't feel that anything EIC have to comment on how GT conduct the closure procedure will hold water, they have a job to do and it doesn't have anything to do with the running or closing of our IVA's.

Merlin, Agree no progress been made despite many promises. The gentleman I spoke to this morning was GT not EIC. Either way, he either didnt seem to well informed or didnt want to comment.

It's a very frustrating time for GT clients and they should acknowledge this and issue at the very least a generic statement. Whilst not ideal does show the client they're not forgotten. x

I agree with Merlin here. The "PPI" team are a third partyy company and will have no dealings with the rest of the process ( however much theu seem to like yo try to get involved!). Other than that GT seems to be very compartmentalised and one hand is unaware of what the rest of the body is doing !!!

Andy, did you get any perspective on timing for the formal update from GT?

I dont think it will be long before Gt appears on Watchdog. The recent PPI issue where they keep an arrangement open while they pursue possible PPI,alongside the delay of up to 1 year while closing is extremely concerning. The number of posts on here alone just add fuel to the fact many people are very upset with their service levels.

I really feel for all forum members waiting for closure action, not all being GT clients.....it is very unfair in my opinion to keep you waiting at the end of what has already been a stressful time ...but all they are doing is attempting to maximise the returns to creditors....personally I believe PPI claims should be done in year 1 so that they are concluded by the end of year 5 allowing for swift closure.

I agree, luluj. Hopefully, going forward, this is what IP's will do.

I have had no reply to my written complaint to GT and no call from their PPi company or correspondence from them.
I agree they will be on Watchdog soon as they have clearly broken many of their agreements on the time element alone. In addition there will be claims of unfair treatment with regard to timescales. Yes we all know that each IVA is different yet they all contain similar elements. What is surprising is learning from this forum that many iVAs are being closed now and with ppi but before many IVAs that are much longer outstanding! Surely they should be processed and closed in order?
I don't know about anyone else but I didn't find the process of making payings for 5 years anywhere near as stressful as being treated like this after that period. Now 13 months after last payment......

Thanks Andy. I am really really at the end of the line with this. I followed Madeleines advice and wrote to Karol nearly 2 weeks ago and nothing!. Yet she is on this Forum answering queries posted an hour before by new members. It is though longer and more outstanding debtors are being ignored over new complaints?
It would seem that debtors have paid their last payment since mine, have not had to account for PPi and received their certificates. Then it would seem they are entitled to claim PPi themselves and keep it. (I was told this myself by GT in August 2012). I don't want to keep it buit I do want my CC...
No response from Grant Thornton, Karol or anything from EIC. Yet Forum members are getting CCs in 7-9 months yet I have been waiting and chasing for 13 months, (actually longer because I was chasing for any queries before my past payment). What on earth is going on?

GT have been on the forum today -- so hopefully have picked up on this ( even if they continue to decide not to respond).

They are often on the Forum. If you go to their profile it tells you when they were on.i.e today. Karol has responded to a query earlier from a new member.

Sorry of course I meant Melanie's advice.
