Hi all, made final payment today[:)] has been a long and sometime struggle, but it is over. yes i know i have to wait for 12mths plus but who cares. all you people wanting to have credit again once your iva finished are mad, its the credit that got us into this mess first . so no credit for me if i cope for 5years with out it i'm sure i can managed still. means i can save the money i was giving to the iva for something nice. they are are a lot worst things that can happen to you in life, so who cares you have to wait for completion, we waited for years without it, yes i know i'm am still tied to the iva, but i will not be paying for it.
so lets be postive and enjoy life.
P.S I'M A WITH GT AS WELL

Well done on that final payment, mine goes out on Monady.

Hopefully your completion certificate won't be long before it's in your hands.

All the best for your debt free future. x

Excellent, Jerrylee. And a good outlook -- yes, it will take some time, I am afraid, to get that completion certificate, but it will come :-)

As you say the stain is on your file for another year anyway, but you have extra money in the bank each month and no debts :-)

Jerrylee I think I will feel exactly the same when our time comes in a few months. Personally I will just be glad to stop paying & start saving! We have around 1 year left in our rented property before we have to think about moving & we need the cash to prepare. We also want to start saving for our future/retirement & our children's future.
We are also with GT since they took over BE & have a few niggles to sort out regarding the date we finish, I need to get into gear n start bugging GT!
Well done on getting to the end x

Well done from me too Jerry and a very healthy attitude. While people have genuine gripes about the length of time it is taking to close files, the IP firms are not doing it on purpose. However, you are now debt free and when you do get the certificate it will be the cherry on the icing on the cake!

Well done and good luck In getting your certificate . I agree with you that anyone thinking of trying to get credit must be mad but unfortunately without that viital certificate you are in limbo and will not even be able to open a savings account I am almost 21 months since last payment and even the coop bank who have been brilliant and have seen how we have managed our account would not consider us for a savings account unless we could produce a closure certificate.

Yorkshire Building Society (not Bank) gave me one whilst in my IVA, geordie --- but I know what you mean.

Practicalities apart (and the fact that some firms will hold you to obligations) these Insolvency companies just do not appreciate the significance of that little piece of paper.

Well done and yes for some people the IVA is fairly easy to cope with If you are married and just the 1 in the IVA then the other has some back up When you go it alone with no fall back or help then its tougher

You have to look at it as a 5 year bank loan and pretty much everybody has some form of loan mortgage or whatever You will find it very hard to get any sympathy from most people not in a IVa
as they will turn around and tell you that too

The difference is the IVA you feel under watch all the time and also if you screw up you are in bigger trouble.

I am sure the Iva companies must get fed up with people feeling sorry for themselves and want to say well I am not in a mess and I manage my own money very well so you should have done to :)

Human nature but I think that people in the IVA are more angry with themselves for getting in that position in the first place guilt or stupidity whatever makes you feel that and having to deal with the legal side of things and the worry at the start etc

Its not an easy way out for sure and for those in the IVA or out of it then we have to be thankful for being allowed to go the IVA route and for all the help and advice we get at the start

Its all down to positive thinking and if you can do that and stay focussed and determined to complete then you will be fine Its not a soft option and you can come out of it with a new perspective and also you should be looking at how and why you got in the mess in the first place and try to put that right before you move on

I am out but I do not feel any kind of happiness or proud of what I have had to do or that I was stupid to get in the position I did but such is life We live and learn
I am now in the position where I was 10 years ago starting from scratch but I know this year will be better and thats down to me to make sure i make up for lost time and learn my lesson and also to change my whole attitude towards money and how to keep a check on what I want to do and how to do it rather than the old stupid way of pay it back later and live today attitude I had

Hi Slushysnow.

Staying positive is the only way forward in life. I really hope my IVA is in the december of its life. I've made 72 payments and I'm hoping that my IP agrees to a 12 month extention in lieu of equity release from my run down hole of a house.

Over the past few years I've read numerous books and put into practice the Cognative Behaviour Therapy that Councellors employ to help their patients and I can tell anyone without a positive attitude and a focus on achieveable goals life is a very dark place indeed. Once my IVA is cleared I fully intend studying at the OU to become a cousellor to help people with their problems.
