Hi All,
Applied for a Current Account online for an upgrade as I only have the basic account presently and I have been turned down. Letter came back saying "previous IVA/Bankruptcy"
My question is how the hell would they know as it is not on any of my credit files at all. I had them all cleared up and have the copies.
Just bugs me that I am in the clear and still cannot get a proper account.

Try a different bank if your credit file is clear. Seems very shortsighted to me as you now have a track record of repaying debt, a surplus income and no unsecured commitments.

Cheers Michael just wanted to try and stay with them as all my outgoings go out from there

Have you checked all 3 major credit reference agencies to confirm they are all clear?

hello rayb, I did the very same thing this morning with the co-op. I travelled 25 miles for the privilage of them telling me I had been rejected. Something they could have told me over the phone. Since my IVA has finished, some time ago, only the Halifax has updated my credit file as satisfied. The worst offenders for not updating are Barclaycard, MBNA and some mob called PCO Holdco. I have called these companies but they just keep transferring me round and round and round with nothing ever sorted. Have these companies got guidelines they must adhere to? Anybody.... please offer me some guidance.

PCO Holdco. I have justed started my IVA and I have received a letter from Barclaycard stating that my debt is now with PCO Holdco and a letter from PCO Holdco saying Barclaycard have transferred my debt to them.

MikeyM - You are a superstar my friend. I have just got off the phone from Sandra at GT and she has sorted pretty much everything for me in relation to Barclaycard, MBNA and PCO. She was fantastic, really helpful and polite. I know that PCO have been difficult to get hold of, but this lady is tremendous - Moshi1 give Sandra a call.
Thanks MikeyM

All of my credit files are updated via all 3 Agencies. There is no debts or IVA showing on any of them so surprised I was knocked back. 6 years all gone and passed!!!
I have applied for a Halifax account so will let you know how I get on [:)]

Were any of your creditors linked to Natwest? I was just wondering if they keep their own records?
Apart from this I hope all is going well for you Ray x

That's a good point Skippy. I'm with Natwest and am happy but after things are finished and tidied up I would have like to remain with them but upgrade to a full account with the debit card which I can use at self-fill petrol pumps. x

Hi Skippy,
Possibly so I will have to delve deeper in to this. Even so did not think they would still be able to hold it against you after all cleared. After all surely shown now you are a better risk with managing your debt and learning a very valuable lesson.
Just annoying that back in the BLACK and still cannot get a current account - at least with Natwest. Oh well will take my business elsewhere [:D]
Apart from this Skippy all going well thank you. And hopefully yourself [:)]
