I used to be a customer of Brighthouse, they are not in my IVA as i paid them off.
They have been contacting me offering me products for christmas etc. Ive told them im in an IVA and they said thats OK its not classed as taking on credit.
Im very confused as surely this is a line of credit and my IVA would fail if i used them.
Can anyone clarify this for me please.

Hi Adele,
It is classed as credit unless you pay upfront. Some IVA's allow for up to £500 credit but not all.
I would ignore them.

Thanks for your reply Harpic.
Im not 100% sure whether mine allows £500 or not tbh. Just glad im out of all that now they are worse than people chasing debt trying to get me to get more debt x

Check your proposal and Chairmans report.
I'd give it a big miss though anyway!!

so glad you can see that and I know some would be tempted. I wonder how Brighthouse define credit as if it's not paid in full and has a high interest rate in my books it would credit. x

I think the person who i spoke to thought that as it wasnt money but goods it was fine. I dont think that alot of the staff who work there get adequate training in these kind of things as there are no credit checks or anything then they dont really understand everything that goes with people buying things this way. I think they should have more training and understaning.

It doesn't make any difference whether it is goods or money - it's all credit!
I think their call centre staff do not have a clue about credit!
